Washtenaw Community College – Free College Day

WHAT: Free College Day is a popular biannual event where the community can enjoy the breadth and depth of educational opportunities that students experience every day at Washtenaw Community College.

A variety of classes led by WCC faculty and staff will be offered during three sessions (9:30-10:30am, 11:00am-12:00pm and 1:00-2:00pm). Topics range from “iPhone Photography” to “Cells: The Smallest Living Unit” to “Spices: A Flavor for all Seasons” to “Arduino Projects,” which demonstrates the limitless ways microcontrollers bring projects to life. Some old favorites return, including “The Amazing Great Lakes and their Islands,” and new topics will be introduced, such as “Ghosts and Demons,” the paranormal experiences of a psychic medium and a ghost hunter. Other courses focus on cell biology, geography, evolution, craft beer, entrepreneurship, speed reading, languages, and more. A full schedule of classes can be found at wccnet.edu/freecollegeday.

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, March 4 from 9:00am to 2:30pm at Washtenaw Community College, 4800 E. Huron River Drive, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48105. Classes will be offered in the Crane Liberal Arts & Science (LA) building, the Technical & Industrial (TI) building and the Student Center (SC).

WHY: “It’s an honor to host yet another Free College Day as we continue to reach out to our community and let them know about the incredible learning opportunities here at WCC, said WCC President Dr. Rose B. Bellanca. “It is such a privilege to share the incredible talent and expertise of our remarkable faculty and staff. I encourage people of all ages to attend a presentation — there truly will be something for everyone on this special day.”

MORE DETAILS: Registration is not required. Courses are open to all ages, though children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Campus maps and directions can be found at wccnet.edu/freecollegeday.
