Three Michigan companies recently received investments from the Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund, totaling $585,000. To date, the Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund, a collaborative effort of Michigan’s SmartZones, has awarded 63 Michigan companies with seed funding totaling more than $14 million.

The Ann Arbor SPARK Foundation recently presented the winners of the Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition with their cash awards. The competition’s grand prize of $500,000 in cash was awarded to DeNovo Sciences and the competition’s $150,000 prize was awarded to Fusion Coolant Systems.

RealKidz, a clothing company aimed at above-average and average-sized girls, was recently awarded a loan from the Eastern Washtenaw Microloan Fund, a funding opportunity for start-ups that’s part of the Michigan Microloan Fund Program. RealKidz will use the funding to expand its commercialization efforts through an online social network for families to help them support their daughters and make healthy lifestyle choices. Read more…
